Plezy 2.23.0 adds new streaming features
Plezy has added features in recent weeks and months; version 2.23.0 focuses on downloads and expands support for multiple streaming servers.
Plezy has added new features to its client in recent weeks and months. Version 2.23.0 mainly revises downloads: films and series can be sorted into collections for offline viewing, failed downloads can be restarted in a batch, and interrupted downloads can resume on Android.
Playback and live TV
MPV is now the default playback backend on Android, while ExoPlayer remains available as an alternative. MPV supports features including deinterlacing, 10-bit and HDR output, and configuration through a custom file. For Android TV, the update lists bitstream passthrough for TrueHD, DTS-HD MA and E-AC3. Dolby Vision can be disabled on Android and Apple TV to use the HDR10 or HLG layer instead.
Jellyfin and Emby users can schedule recordings directly from the programme guide. Search also finds actors and directors across connected servers. Plezy adds integrations for Seerr and Jellyseerr media requests, as well as Watch Together rooms. The app is available for Android, iOS, Apple TV, Windows, macOS and Linux.
Why it matters
The update expands the playback and library-management features of a client that brings together multiple server services. Users get more options for offline content, live TV and search; the changes do not alter the streaming services themselves.
Why it matters
For users of IPTV players and streaming services, Plezy shows how one client can bring together content and features from Plex, Jellyfin and Emby. The changes affect playback and controls in Plezy; they do not change the connected services’ offerings.
