You want to watch something now, not buy an unknown “IPTV code” first. Start with the official websites and apps of the broadcasters. They make it clearer who provides the stream, whether you need to sign in and where regional rights apply. You do not need a player or a third-party M3U collection for this. This directory links directly to official starting points and distinguishes free, ad-supported and region-limited offers. It was checked against the linked provider information on 23 October 2026. Livestreams, app availability and rights can change; check the note on the destination page if a particular program will not play.

“No sign-in in our spot check” is not a promise that every platform feature is available without an account. Features such as watchlists, recordings, personalized recommendations or some premium channels may have their own terms. The table describes the open live-TV entry point, not the entire media library. Joyn’s accessibility information explicitly says live TV can be used without signing in, while some broadcaster libraries require registration. ARD’s help page describes its livestreams as free and available without registration. ZDF’s Smart TV help confirms that videos and livestreams can be watched without signing in.
Zattoo Free is an option if you are comfortable creating a free account. The official Free page requires account creation and lists 30 hours per calendar month in Germany on TVs or streaming devices. According to Zattoo, use in a browser and on mobile devices is unlimited. Some private-channel groups may require a paid plan. For a search specifically for “no sign-in,” Zattoo Free therefore does not belong in the filtered results.
Start in a browser without signing in
On a computer or phone, going directly to the link is usually the quickest route. Open ARD live or ZDF Live TV, choose a channel and start watching. Accept only the necessary prompts on the actual provider website. A browser message asking you to install an unrelated “player update” or an APK from another domain is not part of this process. Save the official URL as a bookmark; that helps you avoid search ads promoting lookalike sites.
The ARD live section includes many regional and partner channels alongside the main channel. According to its own FAQ, ZDF offers switches to ZDFneo, ZDFinfo and 3sat from the livestream. For documentaries, ARTE has a dedicated live page. For children’s programming, go directly to KiKA live. If you mainly want German commercial channels, Joyn live TV is another route, with advertising. The exact selection can change; a free service is not automatically ad-free.
Watch on your TV: check the app before buying extra hardware
On a Smart TV, first search for the broadcaster’s or service’s official app. ARD describes apps for Android TV, Apple TV and Fire TV, among other platforms, as well as HbbTV on compatible devices. ZDF lists a broad range of devices on its Smart TV page, including Samsung Tizen and LG webOS. That does not guarantee support for every older model; check the app store on your TV. With HbbTV, the remote’s red button may open a media library when supported by the TV and reception route. Our Samsung and LG guide explains the app-store route in more detail.
If no app is available, a suitable streaming stick or box may help. Choose it based on the specific app you want, not on a general claim that it “makes any TV smart.” A Fire TV Stick 4K Select with Vega OS has a different app route from a Fire OS model. Our box comparison explains those differences and the total cost. Before buying, check whether your TV can use the official website in its browser; many TV browsers have limited controls, however.
Free does not mean available everywhere or all the time
Broadcasting rights apply to particular countries and programs. In its streaming FAQ, ZDF says the ZDF family’s 24/7 livestreams are offered only in Germany, while some international streams are provided separately. 3sat lists Germany, Austria and Switzerland for its 24/7 stream. KiKA explains that the availability of individual programs varies because of rights. A black screen for one particular program therefore does not necessarily mean your Wi-Fi is at fault.
App catalogs may also differ by country, even when the website is reachable in a browser. Do not try to bypass regional restrictions with questionable rerouting services. Instead, read the notice on the official page and look for an international stream explicitly offered there. If you are travelling, check in advance whether the broadcaster you want is available in the country you are visiting. This page does not list unofficial copies of broadcaster streams or third-party M3U credentials.
Understand advertising, data use and picture quality
Public-service media libraries, ad-supported commercial services and paid TV packages use different models. “No sign-in” does not mean “no data processing” or “no internet costs.” Check the provider’s information about privacy, cookies and any advertising. A stable connection matters for livestreams; ARD gives around 6 Mbps as a typical minimum for HD. That is a rough starting point, not a substitute for testing on your device. If the picture breaks up, the buffering guide distinguishes connection, device and source problems.
Picture quality can vary by device and network on the same platform. A 4K TV cannot turn an HD signal into a true 4K production. Watching on mobile may use data; if your plan is limited, check the quality setting in the official app. A livestream can also be several seconds behind another delivery route. That can be a normal result of processing and buffering, not automatically a fault. The live sports guide explains how to compare the difference in a reproducible way.
When choosing for a family, check subtitles, audio description and the children’s section directly in the official app. The options you see may vary by program and device. An open livestream in a browser is often quicker to start, while a TV app may be easier to use with a remote. Try both routes with the same program before buying extra accessories. For children, opening the broadcaster’s page directly is clearer than using a search results page with lookalike names. Also manage screen time with the settings on the device you already have instead of handing that task to an unknown third-party app.
Maintain your personal live-TV list
Save only the official starting points you actually use: one for public-service channels, one for the commercial channels you want and, if useful, one for children’s or cultural programming. Make a private note of which device works well for each entry point and whether you need to sign in. If a link changes, check the provider’s homepage instead of using a copied stream URL from a forum. The landing pages linked here are more stable than raw video file addresses, which providers may change for technical or legal reasons.
This directory should be checked regularly for link destination, sign-in requirements, region, advertising and device route. The date shown above is the source status for this edition, not a claim that the links are checked automatically every day. For a specific decision, open the official page. If you need several channels in one interface, recordings or simultaneous viewing, a TV service may be useful; the provider comparison explains what to compare. You may not need one for a single free livestream.
