Fire TV Stick 4K Plus or Select: which is right for IPTV?
Both sticks are from 2025 and have 4K in the name. For choosing a player, a different distinction matters: Plus uses Fire OS 8, while Select uses Vega OS 1.1. Start with the app you actually need, then consider Wi-Fi and accessories.

Which device is right for you?
If the app you need is confirmed only for Fire OS, Plus better fits your plan among these two. Select may suit you if your apps are explicitly available for this specific Vega device. The same storage and brand name do not make their app paths interchangeable.
Plus: when the Fire OS app path is confirmed
Plus is the candidate if you need a Fire OS app or a manufacturer installation method documented for it. Check support for the model; an Android foundation alone does not guarantee every app. Ethernet requires a compatible adapter.
Select: when the Vega apps you need are available
Search the Select’s catalog for your everyday apps. If they are available and this app path works for you, the model may fit. Do not reuse an APK guide for Plus. Amazon lists its own Ethernet adapter for wired networking; check compatibility and include it in your setup.
System, apps and connections
| Criterion | Fire TV Stick 4K Plus (2025) | Fire TV Stick 4K Select (2025) |
|---|---|---|
| System | Fire OS 8 | Vega OS 1.1 |
| App access | Amazon Appstore; other methods only with appropriate manufacturer authorization | Check the Vega OS app catalog directly on the device |
| Ethernet | Adapter required; Amazon specifies 10/100 Mbps | Adapter required; Amazon lists its Ethernet adapter |
| Wi-Fi | Wi-Fi 6 | Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) |
| Storage | 8 GB | 8 GB |
| Accessories | Plan for an additional Ethernet adapter if you need a wired connection. | Check the compatible Amazon Ethernet adapter if you need a wired connection. |
| A good fit if… | For a compact stick with a documented Fire OS app path. | For apps explicitly available on this Vega model. |
| Our take | Plus and Select both include 4K in the name, but use different operating systems. If an app you need lists Fire OS only, Plus is the better fit of these two. Still check compatibility for the specific device: an Android foundation does not confirm support for any individual app. | Select is not an interchangeable Fire OS stick. Start by searching for the app on this exact device before following a guide. An APK guide for Plus does not establish an installation path here. If your everyday apps are available, Select may still suit your TV setup. |
Why 8 GB does not decide this comparison
Amazon lists 8 GB of storage for both models. That is capacity, not the space left after the operating system and apps. The same number does not remove the difference between Fire OS and Vega OS. Before buying, list your two most important apps, including their publishers, and check how to install them on the target model. Only after both models meet that requirement is it useful to compare features and total cost.
Compare Wi-Fi and LAN as a complete setup
Plus supports Wi-Fi 6; Select uses 802.11ac. Without the same router and placement, that does not establish a reception advantage. Both need an accessory for Ethernet. Include adapters and required cables in your setup instead of comparing a stick’s price with a box that has built-in LAN. If you already have dropouts, first compare the same source under controlled conditions over Wi-Fi and, where possible, LAN.
Before you buy
- Match the full model name and operating system to the listing.
- Confirm the required apps for Fire OS or Vega OS.
- Check the compatible Ethernet adapter and what is included.
- Add up the device, accessories and app costs.

Manufacturer specifications checked 2026-10-26. Assessments are editorial conclusions. We did not test these devices under the same conditions and provide no original channel-switching times or performance figures.
Recheck app availability, region, minimum version and included items before buying. Storage is manufacturer capacity, not free space. A connection speed is not a measured streaming throughput. Prices and availability are not tracked continuously here.
