Hi everyone, I’m looking for an IPTV player with reliable recording. I use a Fire TV Stick 4K and a Synology NAS for storage. So far, I’ve tested TiviMate and IPTV Smarters Pro, but both had interruptions or produced incomplete recordings. Which player works reliably for you? It should also support EPG-based timers. Thanks for sharing your experience.

I’ve been using TiviMate for more than a year and am happy with its recording feature, but only with the Premium version. It’s important to configure the storage location on the NAS correctly. SMB worked better for me than NFS. Timer recordings through the EPG are stable as long as the stream does not fluctuate too much. There was one error during a long series marathon, but otherwise it works very well.

I use IPTV Smarters Pro on a Formuler Z8. The recording feature is acceptable, but the files are sometimes unplayable if the stream was interrupted briefly. A friend swears by TiviMate, but I find Smarters’ interface clearer. It is sufficient for occasional recordings, but I would recommend TiviMate to regular users.

Have you tried OTT Navigator? It has a very flexible recording feature that also works with external storage. I use it on an Nvidia Shield and a Raspberry Pi. Timer recordings are precise, and the files can be opened directly in VLC. The only drawback is that setup is somewhat more complex, but it is more stable than TiviMate.

I switched from TiviMate to iMPlayer because recordings are automatically sorted by channel and the compression is better. It runs smoothly on my Fire TV Stick, and EPG synchronisation works reliably. The full version does cost a little more, though. Anyone who records a lot should also make sure they have a fast NAS connection, otherwise gaps can occur.
