Hi everyone, I’m looking for the best IPTV player for my Windows PC (Intel NUC, Win 11, 16 GB RAM) in 2026. I currently use VLC, but its EPG display is poor and playback stutters with 4K streams. I already use IPTV Smarters and TiviMate on my phone, but I’m not sure which Windows options are good. Which app runs reliably with M3U playlists and has a good recording feature? What has been your experience? Thanks.

I switched to MyIPTV Player last year. It is optimised specifically for Windows and supports EPG and timeshift. It runs smoothly on an old laptop with Win 10, even at 1080p. The recording feature is solid, but you have to set a file path. The only drawback is that the interface looks a little dated, although it is functional. For 4K, I would recommend IPTV Smarters Pro instead because it has better codec support.

I swear by Kodi with the IPTV Simple Client add-on. It isn’t a dedicated player, but it is extremely flexible. You can add M3U and XMLTV sources, and recording works through the PVR interface. It does require some time to learn. For Windows, Kodi is the most stable solution because it makes good use of hardware decoding. It only stutters with 4K when the CPU is weak. A friend also uses TiviMate through an Android emulator, but that is too cumbersome for me.

I’ve tested many players. IPTV Smarters Pro is the easiest for beginners, but the Windows version sometimes has bugs when updating the EPG. IPTVnator is better in that respect: it is open source, lightweight and supports catch-up. Unfortunately, it has no built-in recording, but you can solve that with external tools such as Streamlink. For stutter-free 4K, I would recommend VLC Media Player with hardware acceleration enabled, even though the EPG is not as attractive.

Thanks for the tips. I’ve now tested MyIPTV Player and IPTVnator. MyIPTV Player runs reliably, but the EPG display becomes sluggish with large playlists. IPTVnator is lighter and displays the EPG better, but I miss the recording feature. I’ll probably stick with MyIPTV Player and use a separate tool for recording. I’ll test VLC with hardware decoding again for 4K. Thanks for the suggestion.
